Back in the day, I did a lot of events. While it’s not typically my jam now, it taught me so many things, especially how to speed up my discerning photographer’s eye. I still missed things because everything is practice. Events taught me to be quick and in the moment, to seek (with my whole heart if possible) and find. If anyone wants to get into this kind of photography, I recommend looking high and low for unique vantages while constantly asking yourself what might you be able to do with the light available to you. This work was another step in striving for excellence rather than perfection, allowing me to stay curious about what I can do as the person in the room with the job to represent a particular moment in time.

How fascinating that what once felt like a job on a time crunch with a list of what not to miss can become something wildly transcendent in retrospect.
